AMERICAN DRAGONS
Genre: Action
Year: 1998
Run Time: NTSC 95min/PAL 91min
Director: Ralph Hemecker
Cast: Michael Biehn, Yoong Hung Park, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

An american cop, De Luca (Biehn) and a korean cop, Kim (Hung-Park) are brought together by a mysterious killer that has killed Kim's family and now causes trouble for De Luca. In order to catch the killer they must leave their differences behind and join their forces if they are to prevent more dead bodies from surfising and the possible fight between Mafia and Yakuza.

American Dragons is a buddy-cop movie not much different from the 'Rush Hour' films. It came out pretty much at the same time with the first one and while Rush Hour films rely heavily on comedy American Dragons was more about the action and violence. A decision that ultimate made it less successful as another out of the mill action garbage.
While there were few problems (such as the lack of chemistry between Biehns and Hung-Park, oh, and Hung-Park's acting) at least the action scenes were well coreographed. It's just too bad it got stamped with the words 'rip-off' all over it. And a word of warning; Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is absolutely wasted here!
This movie is a Michael Biehn showcase. When you're watching it you'll notice how it centers so much on his character despite the fact they bring Hung-Park as his sidekick. He's really the only reason to see or own this movie on DVD. Once again Michael is rock solid and does his best in a movie that is otherwise lacking on every department.

Rating 4.5/10
